Do I even dare ask what a 'brahmin' is?

[All the things from Boone's world sound terrible to eat, at least everything she's been told about so far. Most of them aren't even familiar, in name or biology.]

[She raises an eyebrow along with the question, clearly skeptical of any steak made from apocalypse livestock.]

Uhh... they're like Miltanks, I guess. Udders and everything. But they're way less cute, and they've got two heads. Mostly bred for their milk and meat, but you can use them to carry stuff too.

[Lust is probably right to be skeptical, after everything Boone has told her. And if she actually saw a Brahmin, she would likely not be into the idea of eating it. They don't exactly look healthy.]

Yeah. But we call them Brahmin. The ones born with one head are usually the weird ones.

[She's more interested in whether these are natural fauna or altered by the chemical warfare that decimated Boone's world. She still has a scientist's mind, despite abandoning science since coming to this world.]

We've got night stalkers, too. They're coyotes, but they've got the head and tail of a rattlesnake.

Tend to travel in packs. Not fun running into them. Their bites hurt like hell.

Chimera.

[Because that can't be some sort of accident - animals don't fuse themselves together into something new without help. Lust knows all about that sort of thing.]

We call those chimera in my world, the genetics of two different species fused into one new creature. It doesn't happen naturally.

What happened to your world, Boone?

There was a nuclear war 200 years back. World went to hell. Now we're living in a wasteland, and I guess the radiation did a number on the creatures living there. Can't explain why night stalkers happen, though. Someone out there doing some kinda experiments, I guess.

[He shrugs.]

Either way, they're a pain in the ass. After a while, you tend not to question things. There are scorpions bigger than Pointy back home, so he's actually pretty normal to me.

Someone certainly was. It's a difficult thing, to viably splice separate species. And oftentimes the result is unpredictable and offers little benefit to the world at large.

I suppose it all must just be normal to you, it's what you grew up with, born into.

[She cocks her head, looking over at Boone now, and finds herself smiling an amused little smile.]

Saying that, I find it difficult to imagine you as a child.

There once was a boy who was a Halloween fanatic. He loved dressing up for Halloween, he loved pulling pranks and watching horror movies, and above everything else... he loved candy. One fateful year, while he went trick-or-treating, he visited a house. This house was creepy as hell! It was big, it was old, it smelled like a grandmother and it was owned by a happy, old rich couple. The boy came here thinking that he would be handed out big chocolate bars, because it was a rich person's house but when he knocked on their door... he was handed a bag of that shitty candy that nobody likes! Tootsie rolls, shitty flavoured dum-dums, those weird... peanut things... needless to say, the boy was heartbroken. He was so heartbroken that he died, right there on their porch and now, every Halloween he goes out and finds people to curse. He wants everyone to suffer the same way he did!

Everybody is already suffering from his curse!! Send this to ten people to break the curse, or to avoid getting cursed, or you'll be stuck looking freakier than usual for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!

We don't really celebrate it, but I've heard of it. It was around then that the bombs fell, so some places still have really old Halloween decorations up. Why d'you ask?

It makes sense that a werebear would feel some need to hibernate, but that doesn't mean Egon hasn't been a little worried that Boone was sick or the like. He just comes by to see Boone and his dog with Slimer and a pizza in tow, and make his way right up to his boyfriend's penthouse.

"I saw you on the network today, feeling better?"

[Boone is grateful to see both Egon and Slimer, and also that pizza. Sleeping for a couple of weeks has left him hungry, and he's already raided the fridge. Partly for some of that human meat, but mostly for normal food.]

My family celebrates quite enthusiastically. It's quite the tradition, especially in Goldenrod.

Yeah... at least I know the place can run without me for a few weeks.

Oh yes, it's practically expected of me. My family does quite the Halloween fiesta.

Wouldn't mind checking it out. Goldenrod seems like a pretty decent place to do it, too. Lot of people. What kinda stuff does it involve?

There's a great deal of candy and special foods not available the rest of the year.

It depends. On Halloween night I take Wrath out for tricks or treats, it's a tradition for children where they go door to door for candy. But there's small fairs and spook houses and hayrides through pumpkin fields...

And costumes are traditional.
