I wasn't a slime here. I'm just glad that's not what I became in the first place.

It was a lab accident back at home.

[His roommate was a slime, and Loki was trouble enough. He couldn't be one himself.]

[Because Boone sure as hell does not want to be a slime.]

Well, the original Slimer isn't here to get in the way of experiments anymore at least. Though I have been working on new traps.

Valentines

[So, Egon wasn't a stellar romantic. But he had hopes for being with Boone- maybe not determined that it would be the romance of a lifetime, but he liked the younger man and he didn't want to ruin things for himself, though he'd been sort of terrible at it thus far.]

[The bit of demon that had been inserted into his personality made it easier. He wanted to treat them, get Boone away from responsibility and worries for a bit. Just the two of them.]

[So he has a carnation for Boone and a box of chocolate berries, flying up to the windows of the Lucky 38 and knocking.]

Boone, I brought you something. Come outside.

[Egon is lucky that Boone was relaxing in the penthouse rather than the suite, because he sees Egon and tilts his head, before nodding. He comes down to the front of the casino and looks for the demon there, looking confused. It's clear he's not aware that the day is meant to be special in any way.]

What is it?

[The demon opens his wings and parachutes down, landing before Boone and offering him the sweets and the flower. It appears he's found himself some pants and suspenders that fit, but he still forgoes the shirt. It just means everyone can see at least part of his tramp stamp, and the abs.]

It's Valentines, I thought we should go out.

Oh.

[He blinks, taking the sweets and the flower, then looks guilty.]

...Forgot what day it was. Sorry.

[That, and he hadn't actually considered giving Egon anything. They're not exactly dating, after all.]

Thanks, though. Where did you wanna go?

[It's a nice night to go out. He won't mind.]

Don't worry about it.

Never had someone to buy for, before. Not really.

I was just thinking about a walk, since it's a little nicer than it's been.

[Around town, see the humans on their dates, eat chocolate, so on. Egon just looks (way, way up) at Boone and then back at the town.]

Sure. Let me just put these inside.

[He heads back into the Lucky 38 to place his gifts on the counter of the casino, then steps back out again. He wonders if this counts as a date.]

Okay, ready when you are.

[He still seems a little distracted, but now he's thinking about what he could do for Egon to make up for not getting him anything.]

Then let's go.

[He smiles just a little, beginning to walk towards town at the werebear's side. He doesn't particularly expect something from Boone, mostly its the opportunity to be with someone at this time of year. Kind of nice, very unfamiliar.]

[He's quiet as they walk, feeling a little awkward. Other couples are walking by holding hands, and he wonders if he should hold Egon's. Is this a date or not? He's so bad at this.]

You left Slimer at home for a while?

Yes, he should manage in the kennel for a bit with his toys for a bit. He's getting bigger fast.

[It is sort of weird to watch all the humans about on their own. He flushes, a little, pink mingling with all the yellow and green. Should they call this a date? He certainly suggested it like one.]

Rex is alright?

[thumbsdown]

Yeah, he's fine. He'll just sleep while we're out.

[He fiddles with his claws, glancing over at Egon. He sees he's a little pink in the face, and wonders if he's having the same trouble as him.]

You have anywhere in mind? Or are we just walking?

[hauntpadour]

That's good.

[Yep. The demon's eyes are on the ground, hooves clicking along the sidewalk. This is... awkward.]

Not partocularly. Do you have anywhere you like to go?

I like walking by the lake. Pretty peaceful there.

[And there are a lot of fish to catch. Maybe that would be a good distraction.]

Haven't spent much time at the lake in a while.

We can go there.

[They sure can, two monsters who have no clue how to emotion properly walking along.]

...How has the bath house been?

Sure.

[He really wishes he was better with words right about now. At least then one of them would be able to stir up some conversation.]

It's fine.

[Yep, that's that conversation. After a few more moments, Boone gets tired of the uncertain air and looks down at Egon with a frown.]

Is this a date?

[The demon starts to freeze up before he sighs, glancing up at Boone and then away again.]

That's up to you. It is if you want it to be, if not it's two friends on a walk.

[Boone seems to consider it for a minute, before finally figuring that Egon must've had some kind of romantic intentions with this. It's Valentine's Day and he brought him a gift. And really, would things be this unsure if they were just two friends on a walk? It's never been this awkward before.

So he hesitates, before firmly grabbing Egon's hand so that he's holding it while they walk. There. Now it's a date, they both know it's a date, and things can quit being so goddamn awkward.]

You ever been fishing at the lake?

[hauntpadour]

[Egon's very tired of being insecure about all this. But they do seem to take two steps forward and one step back all the time.]

[Here's two more forward. Egon glances down at the hand and smiles tiredly, a little to himself, before giving the bear's palm a squeeze and going on.]

I've never done much fishing, but I ended up killing quite a few when I cleaned the lake.

Do you go there often?

Yeah. Good place to get fish from, better than trying to find a place that sells them.

[Not that there aren't places that sell them, but why buy them when you can just get them for free?]

And it's pretty fun. I can show you.

[Shortly after the switch, Boone will receive a message from his own laptop.]

Who are you?

[hauntpadour]

[Free, fresh fish are good. Really good in fact. Perhaps when it warms up a little.]

I'd enjoy that.

[Another little squeeze to the palm, and they can make it to the lake in a reasonable amount of time. There's a few couples out on swan boats in the distance, but otherwise it's blessedly quiet.]

[As they get closer to the lake, Boone's eyes home in on the surface of the water. He knows there are fish just under it, and he's itching to get his teeth into them. He stops at his favourite fishing spot, letting go of Egon's hand and crouching at the edge of the lake.]

Here, watch.

[He studies the movements of the fish, one hand poised to attack. Then, with careful speed and precision, he snags a fish from beneath the surface of the water with his claws.]
